Problems
Here is what I have run into...
- The stock tires are terrible for traction in snow, slush, and marginal in rain (BF450's lightest 15" tires - Tirerack)
- The body roll on this vehicle is unbelievable - much worse than an 1989 Taurus
- The rear suspension loads up too fast tilting the front of the vehicle up and resulting in
other drivers complaining that we have our high beams on when we don't
- The instrument cluster failed to light up once after starting the car and all the telemetry read 0 except for the odometer - happened twice - second time I caught it on video, so see below zip link
- The trim panel around the steering column on the right side has never lined up - I have popped it into place but it keeps popping out
- Fit and finish on the seams on the front head restraints has foam sticking out through seams on certain corners
- Several holes in the engine bay around the strut mounts allow dirt and debris to make the engine
bay impossible to keep clean - I've tried to seal these with silicone as I find them
- The cd player skips when the heat is cranked up and on defrost
- All four doors needed rust repair after 18 months - covered under warranty
- Sticky starter drive or bad starter controller doesn't disengage the starter from the engine after it's running on a warm restart
- PCM had to be reflashed for the overdrive issue - condition has not returned - Lookup Calibrations by VIN
- Brakes - what can I say - 5 visits to the dealer and 1 visit to Midas - 'nuff said
- Sticky front brake calipers replaced
- Wheel torque spec of 100 ft lbs seems too high with brake problems - I use 90 ft lbs
- Both passenger aluminum wheels replaced due to corrosion
- Problems with the electric seat tracks losing alignment
- Strange thud noises in the suspension which I believe is a result of a leaking strut discovered by Midas
- Strange howling noises which I believe are related to warped rotors dragging since the frequency is
directly proportional to the vehicle speed - of course the dealer found nothing
- Failed hood latch assembly sensor preventing the remote starter from engaging because it thought the
hood was open
- Gas gauge seems faulty - it drops quickly to nothing once below a 1/4 tank
- With supposedly a 1/4 tank of gas, the car frequently takes close to 55L to fill - APPARENTLY HIGH SULPHUR FUELS WILL FOUL
THE FUEL GAUGE SENDER BECAUSE OF SILVER CONTACTS IN THE SENDING UNIT - Use GM Fuel System Cleaner or Chevron Techron
- Both FOBs for the remote starter had to be resync'd after losing sync causing the car alarm to
randomly trip at all hours of the night
- There's no light in the glovebox
- I have not experienced this, but there's a voluntary recall for loss of power steering assist
- When average gas mileage is 6.4L / 100km or better, fuel range cannot display beyond 999km on a full tank
- When using cruise control on hills (in the mountains), overdrive does not like to re-engage and the car stays in 3rd. This does not happen when driving with the
cruise control off
